The day I had a revelation.
Let me take you on a journey of one of my morning devotions and prayer…
I was reading in Acts 10 and once I read verses 39-43, I had a revelation.
Here, Peter is talking…
39 “We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a cross, 40 but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. 41 He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”
– Acts 10:39-43
My take-away from this.
The day Jesus rose from the grave, God had already planned out who the witnesses would be. There’s no way someone could’ve been there randomly walking their goat on the scene and been a witness. No. There’s no way that kids could’ve been around playing kick rocks with their roped, sandals (lol) and been witnesses. No.
God CHOSE those who were to witness the glory that happened on Earth that day. Some would have been in complete disbelief. God knew that the Chosen would truly believe and spread the Holy events of that day and would spread His word in love, bringing His people back to Him in spirit. And not everyone could have done what God required of them but His Chosen few.
He chose Y-O-U too!
Just like God CHOSE them for that great task, He has chosen YOU!
He’s chosen you to fulfill a purpose. He’s chosen you to fulfill a special gift that only you possess. Not everyone can be a landscaper. Not everyone can bring people to joyful tears with their musical talents. Not everyone can give extraordinary, life-changing speeches in front of hundreds and thousands of people. And that’s OKAY!
God entrusts each of us with a specific task, gift, or purpose. However you spin it, He has set your destiny!
He wrapped your gift with love and tied it with a special bow. It’s in your possession and deep down you might even know what it is. You wouldn’t be afraid to open a Christmas or anniversary gift, so why hesitate with the gift God has given you?
We might go through things that make us question the stage we’re supposed to be in life or where we THINK we’re supposed to be rather. But we shouldn’t put a timeframe on our destiny. God may have wrapped our gift, but maybe there’s something in our life that we need to resolve first or maybe He’s still molding us in some way before He can allow us to untie the bow.
No matter how many times we may hear it, I find that it’s okay to be reminded and encouraged that we have a purpose. And I’m here to remind you of just that!
If you feel as though your life is purposeless, know the enemy has lied to you! Rebuke Satan and his lies! Know this truth…
you are CHOSEN!
So, rip open your God-given gift and cultivate what God has for you! The Almighty God is on your side, you have nothing to fear!
A little extra scoop to satisfy your oomph-ness!
Back in December of 2017, I completed a devotional based on the book Activating the Power or God’s Word: 16 Strategic Declarations to Transform Your Life by Kyle Winkler.
If you have the Bible app or something like it or maybe even purchase the book, I advise you read this devotional. No matter how it’s done, you will be blessed by reading the powerful declarations from the author.
I wrote out 5 declarations and boldly recite them aloud after my morning devotion and prayer. They helped pull me out of the dark place I was in towards the end of last year. And now, I’m better and blessed, and they keep me motivated!
It doesn’t matter where you are in life, I strongly believe the devotional will uplift and help everyone. I’m going to share two that I believe really resonates with the message of this post. I pray it speaks to you as well.
- “I can do whatever God wants me to do! Because the Spirit of Christ is in me, I am filled with the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and am empowered to do the greater works He promised. Christ in me gives me strength when I am weak, clarity when I feel confused, the right words when I need them, hope when I feel discouraged, joy when I am weary, and the ability to do whatever God asks of me.”
- “God has great plans for me! Long ago God created me as His masterpiece for a good purpose. I trust that every day He shapes my circumstances and guides my steps to fulfill His plan. I will enjoy the journey, knowing that God is in control and that His plans for me are sure to happen.”
THIS!!!! *praise break*
Y’all! I hope this is as powerful to you as it is to me! Write these down! Speak life over yourself! YOU have a purpose! Declare it! Own it!
So, let’s talk!…
Did this post help you in some way? How so?!
What are some things you do in life to stay encouraged regarding your purpose, whether you are living it already or still learning what it is?
The Biblical Scoop!
“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
“for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the people’s on the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be His treasured possession.” – Deuteronomy 14:2
