Best of Spring 2018
So, I realize that the spring season technically began in March. But, let me just say that this Mississippi weather has fooled us Mississippians once again with its crazy antics. The beginning of the spring felt like winter and quite honestly I don’t believe it officially got and stayed warm until about April-ish. Tragic..
Well, with the sun gracing us with its presence, the hubby and I naturally wanted to take advantage of it. Brandon has random cravings for seafood every now and then. (Let’s blame it on his New Orleans origin.) So, on one particular day he had a craving, we went in search for crawfish.
This was on St. Patrick’s Day so you can imagine how hectic everything was on that day. Speaking of which, every year there’s a St. Paddy’s Day parade and we were supposed to go this year, but we weren’t able to make it. *whispers* I think the hubby secretly sabotaged plans so that he wouldn’t have to go to the parade but don’t tell him I said that…
So, during our mission to search for crawfish we decided to get snowballs. What should have been a 30 minute drive quickly turned into an hour cruise on the road because we couldn’t find a snowball place anywhere. Anywhere! We drove completely out of the way of our crawfish destination because Brandon had yet… another craving. That husband of mine. Joy.
It was beautiful day so I tried not to complain but man was I hungry! We found a place and the line was out the door. But we had driven forever to even find it so we stayed.
We took the food to the reservoir and “fought” for a good spot (this includes walking briskly to a picnic table as you see others also attempting to get to said table). We ate good under the sun in the slight breeze, looking out onto the calm water.
Since that day we began searching for the best crawfish in our area. On some weekends, we’d check out a new spot, order, and take the food to the res or a park. So far, our fav spot has been a place called Crawfish Hut in Ridgeland, MS. But we’re not done searching yet!
So, a lot of great things have happened this spring that I could’ve chosen, such as some listed in a previous post, 10 Things I’m Loving About Life In 2018. However, I chose to share something as simple as this because my husband and I started something new together. And I love that it was with my best friend. Brandon introduced me to crawfish back in 2014 and even had to peel them for me! Don’t laugh! I’ve come a long way thank you very much. 🙂 So yeah, who knows.. This might even become our spring tradition! Eating crawfish under the sun!

P.S. Since I first wrote this post, Brandon and I hosted a Crawfish Boil at our home. Now, I might be bias but I would like to retract who has the best crawfish.
With that being said, I would like to announce that the award for the best crawfish I’ve had this spring goes to…
BRANDON BAZIIILLLEEE!!!! Lol!
